Job Description
In the Hardware Design Engineer role, you are responsible for electronic design and development of medical imaging devices. The role spans data acquisition topologies, control circuits, to power distribution and safety implementation. You will engage with a multi - disciplinary team of engineers in hardware and software for holistic design solutions.
Responsibilities include:
- Design and characterization of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits for medical imaging systems
- Ensure proper layout and fabrication of the electronic circuit design - working with contract manufacturers and vendors
- Assess requirements and develop design outputs of the developed system and subsystems
- Create bench-level test setups and work with team members to create appropriate test interfaces for data acquisition.
- Assess the reliability of designs, components, and materials to meet manufacturing requirements
- Collaborate with the clinical systems team in support of product verification and validation, including appropriate safety testing
Qualifications
You should have the following skills/qualities/experiences:
- MSEE with 7 years of experience or BSEE with 15 years of experience
- Analog and digital design for a variety of data acquisition systems, power management and distribution systems, control loops, filtering, and other support circuitry.
- Schematic capture and layout using Altium.
- Simulation using SPICE.
- Test bench experience for initial bring-up
- Experience with Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), and signal integrity testing to international standards.
- Proficiency in instrumentation control software and scripting languages (e.g. Python)
- Ability to read and interpret datasheets, write test protocols, and generate test reports
Additional Desired Skills
- Experience with the design control process in an ISO 13485 environment
- 5+ years of experience in design, development, and testing of mixed signal electronics
- Experience with test instrumentation used in the medical industry
- Have led multi-disciplinary teams to develop systems for a broad range of users, with extensive experience working with PhD scientists
- Experience in design, development and testing of ultrasound systems.
- Setup semi-automated tests using Python, C, C++ and design analysis using Matlab
- Experience applying IEC 60601-1 and related medical device electronics standards is highly desirable.
