Job description
Summary
The Design Engineer will develop, integrate, and support hardware and embedded firmware for new product development efforts along with sustaining engineering projects. This company focuses on the design and manufacturing of electronic controls for mobile equipment industries such as agriculture, off-road, construction, railroad, turf care, military, emergency vehicles, and marine/watercrafts, that allow performance reliably in harsh environments.
Responsibilities
- Create general and specialized circuit and system designs
- Analyze electronic components, circuits, signals, and systems
- Simulate circuits using SPICE modeling
- Use Altium Designer for schematic captures and PCB layout
- Troubleshoot and analyze hardware using digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, or function generators
- Develop embedded firmware using programming languages such as embedded C/C++
- Debug and analyze embedded firmware using ICE, JTAG debuggers, and data monitors
- Support pre-compliance testing for EMI/EMC compliance along with certification of products at external certified labs
- Remain up to date with industry terminology, market news, and technical innovations
Qualifications
- Ability to work closely with other engineering departments (mechanical, manufacturing, documentation, software)
- Strong communication skills for frequent peer reviews, management reviews, and group discussions
- Self-driven with strong time management skills
- Proficient understanding of common electronic circuits or Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) in a manufacturing setting
- Ability to interface with diagnostics and communication systems (CAN/LIN)
- Ability to interface with software tools (Kvaser, PCAN, CANalyzer)
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent
