Reporting to the Sr. Director of Philanthropic Strategy and CEO, the Philanthropic Development Officer is responsible for Identifying and engaging potential donors, cultivating relationships with diverse stakeholders, enhancing donor engagement programs, and innovating services to achieve fundraising goals and revenue targets by establishing charitable funds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prospect Cultivation
- Research and identify new prospect target audiences and geographies in Orange County. Use statistical and census data/research to identify opportunity areas for strategic outreach. Research the unique values and needs of these audiences through community partners and internal stakeholders.
- Develop, test, and implement new innovative strategies to identify and engage new prospects to help diversify the Foundation’s donor base. This could include engaging second and third generations of current donors and attracting new emerging donors.
- Build prospect pipelines and maintain relationships with potential donors through personalized and targeted outreach and engagement.
- Convert prospect pipelines and establish new donor-advised funds, agency funds, and legacy funds and ensure a smooth transition to our philanthropic advisor professionals.
- Manage and facilitate the Emerging Leader Advisor Committee made up of emerging generation attorneys, financial advisors, and accountants and the Emerging Gen Group initially launched with Family Foundation Alliance members. Leverage their feedback as input to future service offerings and events.
- Partner with the Sr. Director of Philanthropic Strategy and Foundation CEO to cultivate relationships and establish new charitable funds to meet the Foundation’s long and short-term asset growth goals.
- Represent the Foundation at community events, networking functions, and other external gatherings.
Product Development
- Identify, develop, and implement new and/or expanded innovative products and services targeted at existing and emerging audiences (e.g. social entrepreneurship, impact investing, cause-related ventures, volunteerism, etc.).
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ideate, strategize and expand current offerings ensuring successful implementation and management (e.g. giving circles, Family Foundation Alliance, etc.). Ensure products are outcome-driven, assessed, and continually enhanced.
Event Management
- Identify, research, design and launch innovative events targeted to donor segments, creating memorable experiences that foster long-term relationships.
- Partner with the Marketing team and senior leadership on all aspects of event planning including content, project management, logistics, and launch.
Marketing and Outreach
- Collaborate with Marketing team to develop marketing materials and campaigns tailored to new target audiences, highlighting the impact and relevance of the Foundation’s philanthropic work. Utilize storytelling and creative content to illustrate the Foundation’s impact and encourage donor participation.
- Explore how digital platforms and social media can be used to engage younger generations in philanthropic efforts.
- Measure outcomes against engagement and target audience goals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field of study or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of business, development and/or relationship management experience in nonprofit or for-profit organizations or related professional service organizations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a talent for building rapport with diverse groups.
- Strong research skills and/or understanding of the philanthropic landscape.
- Creative thinker with the ability to develop and implement innovative ideas and programs.
- Experience with “moves management” to ensure prospect pipelines are actively cultivated and converted into new funds.
- Entrepreneurial spirit with an experimentation mindset.
- Execution, measurement, and analysis of new programs and desired outcomes.
- Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and experience using Customer Relationship Management systems, preferably Salesforce
