Position Summary: Assists the dentist in providing a wide variety of dental procedures
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains working knowledge of and adhere to the program Manual, agency handbook and Policies and Procedures
- Commitment to providing cost conscious, fiscally responsible, timely, efficient, effective, safe, patient-centered, culturally competent, equitable, and participatory health care.
- Attends all required trainings as per Agency Policy, Program Manual and Funder Guidelines.
- Arrives on time for work, remains at work for whole shift, regular and predicable attendance.
- Maintains appropriate boundaries and ethical standards with staff, clients, visitors and outside providers as detailed in Agency Policy.
- Maintains positive and professional working relationship with co-workers, managers, clients, visitors and outside providers
- Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent computer skills (included but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook)

Program Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains supplies and equipment including x-ray developers/processor and pour models.
- Works with the dentist to improve their skills to function as independently as legal regulations permit; and is scheduled to be chair-side with the dentist in the practice, therefore the position requires flexible work hours according to the needs of the department.
- Receives and prepares patients
- Charts dental records,
- Updates medical and dental histories and assists in maintaining dental records.
- Sterilizes dental instruments including hand pieces and disinfecting operatories according to established guidelines and after each patient.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
One of the following combinations of education and employment experience must be met in order to be considered for the position:

Experience
High school diploma or GED required. Training certification as a Dental Assistant preferred.
One year relevant experience preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with a dental electronic record (EDR) strongly preferred.
- Must hold current MA licensure to practice as a Dental Assistant.
- Must have current BLS certification.
- Certification in Radiology is required
