Paralegal, Workers' Compensation (Hybrid)

Zurich North America is currently hiring a Paralegal specialized in Workers' Compensation to join Staff Legal in Pasadena, CA.
Under the supervision of an attorney, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing the following legal support: legal and documentary research; draft legal pleadings, correspondence, and other documents of moderate complexity; prepare discovery requests and responses; and summarize depositions and medical records. Work will be in support of moderately complex Corporate or Customer litigation cases and will support multiple attorneys both in office and remote.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Summarizing depositions and medical records
Responding to inquiries from and interacting with customers, clients, counsel, and witnesses
Preparing various legal documents including petitions and trial briefs.
Scheduling med-legal doctor examinations and preparing the associated advocacy letter and medical index
Contributing to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed
Tracking billable hours
Basic Qualifications:
OR
A certificate of completion of a paralegal program at, or a degree from, a postsecondary institution that requires the successful completion of a minimum of 24 semester, or equivalent, units in law-related courses and that has been accredited by a national or regional accrediting organization or approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education.OR
A baccalaureate degree or an advanced degree in any subject, a minimum of one year of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney who has been an active member of the State Bar of California for at least the preceding three years or who has practiced in the federal courts of this state for at least the preceding three years, and a written declaration from this attorney stating that the person is qualified to perform paralegal tasks.OR
A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma, a minimum of three years of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney who has been an active member of the State Bar of California for at least the preceding three years or who has practiced in the federal courts of this state for at least the preceding three years, and a written declaration from this attorney stating that the person is qualified to perform paralegal tasks. The experience and training shall be completed no later than December 31, 2003.
AND
Experience conducting electronic database research
Experience drafting legal documents, correspondence, and/or pleadings
Experience in litigation legal support
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree
Experience with Workers Comp
Insurance industry experience
Strong Microsoft Office skills
CORE Registered Paralegal (CRP)
PACE Registered Paralegal (PRP)
Certified Paralegal (CP)
Certified Legal Assistant (CLA)
Professional Paralegal (PP)
Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the role, skill set, and level of experience.
