Job Description Summary
The Bentley University History Department is seeking applicants for a lecturer position in Race and Democracy in the Global U.S. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2024 and the teaching load is 4 classes per semester. The successful candidate will be a committed teacher and scholar who can engage students in both introductory surveys and upper-level undergraduate courses.

Applications are welcome from individuals whose expertise is in race and democracy in the global U.S. (meaning within the U.S. itself and in histories of the U.S. in the world). Internal examples include civil rights, race and ethnicity, constitutional history, women's experiences, immigration, environmental justice, and technological change. External examples include U.S. diasporas, imperialism, missionaries, business connections, and ties to the Caribbean, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

The History Department offers undergraduates a wide and expanding array of courses. Members of the department include recipients of various awards for excellence in research and innovative teaching, and all are actively engaged in the administrative life of the university.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in a relevant field of history, or be scheduled to complete their Ph.D. by September 1, 2024.
