Job description
Position Summary:
The successful candidate will be assigned to our Construction Group based in Charleston, West Virginia and will work directly for the Group Vice President and assist him in the overall management and estimation of projects working with Project Managers and Superintendents when necessary. A complete training will be provided to ensure the candidate has a total understanding of the work, how it is performed and operation of the equipment. The Construction Division works in multiple states including West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Arkansas and Louisiana. Travel to jobsites will be required. Candidate must be able to determine environmental issues, digest and understand construction plans and specifications for each individual state, including nuisances that impact cost and production. Specific Responsibilities:
- Estimate for multiple projects in multiple states at once.
- Quality Control.
- Site visits, pre-bid meetings, pre-construction meetings as necessary
- Budgeting and cost control measures.
- Job costing, Equipment utilization and production/expense tracking on a job-by-job basis.
- Effectively dealing with owners and communications with general contractors.
- Business development through identifying prospects in key market areas.
- Gain valuable experience through hands-on field work with construction crews, if required.
- Assist with the Recruitment and Development of additional CDL operators, laborers and staff.
- Gain a working knowledge of all Equipment and supplies.
- Contribute to the Divisions Product Development and Innovation efforts to improve the work execution and efficiency.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in construction estimation
- Willingness to travel (~20% of the time)
- Bachelors degree in Applied Science/Engineering is a major plus
