Under the general supervision of the Grants Manager the Grants Accountant's primary responsibility is to provide financial oversight on various program Grants. 

This is a full time, exempt, benefit eligible position in West Berkeley, CA.

Benefits

Compensation: $65,000 - $80,000/year. We offer excellent benefits including: medical, dental, vision (including dependent and domestic partner coverage), generous leave benefits including ten paid holidays, Flexible Spending Accounts, 403(b) retirement savings plan.

COVID-19 Vaccine Policy

• Perform monthly and periodic invoicing of our Federal, County, City and other grants timely and accurately.
• Reconcile the program/grant general ledgers and prepare necessary corrections to ensure proper month end close and compliance with all GAAP, Federal OMB, grant/contract standards and guidelines.
• Extracts and formats data from general ledger and ensure compliance, accuracy of allocation in general ledger, maximization of expenses to the approved budget, timely billing and collection of grant and contract receivables.
• Preparing behavioral health grant cost reports.
• Work closely with the Program Managers and Coordinators on budgets, analysis, modifications and grant matching requirements. 
• Researches and provides accurate answers to inquiries.
• Prepares journal entries with supporting documentation and enter in general ledger.
• Establishes and maintains required files and records.

• Knowledge of financial & fund accounting, understanding of federal cost principles and administrative requirements for non-profits.
• Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications. Financial Edge knowledge is prefer.
• Ability to analyze complex fiscal and administrative issues and apply the appropriate measures for resolution.
• Flexibility and positive attitude.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word programs.

Education and Experience

• Associate degree preferred but may substitute degree with relevant work experience.
• Two years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified preferred. Knowledge of accounting system Financial Edge is preferred but not required.
