Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Radiation Oncology Specialist to join our team at [insert facility name]. Responsibilities:
- Perform radiation therapy treatments according to physician orders and established protocols.
- Assess and monitor patients before, during, and after radiation therapy sessions, including evaluating treatment response and managing side effects.
- Educate patients and their families about radiation therapy procedures, potential side effects, and self-care measures.
- Collaborate with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, and other members of the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, treatment delivery, and follow-up care in electronic medical records.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families throughout the treatment process.
- Monitor and maintain radiation safety protocols to ensure patient and staff safety.
- Participate in quality assurance activities, including equipment calibration, quality control checks, and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Assist in the training and supervision of radiation therapy students, interns, and new staff members.
- Stay current with advances in radiation oncology technology and treatment techniques through continuing education and professional development activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy, Radiologic Technology, or related field.
- Current certification as a Radiation Therapist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- State licensure or certification as required by regulatory agencies.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist in a clinical setting.
- Strong knowledge of radiation therapy procedures, equipment operation, and patient positioning techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to providing compassionate care and maintaining patient dignity and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records and computerized treatment planning systems.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on facility policy.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and move heavy equipment as needed.
- Manual dexterity to operate radiation therapy equipment and manipulate patient positioning devices.
- Visual acuity to accurately assess patient setup and treatment fields.
- Ability to lift and position patients as required for treatment procedures.
