As an Industrial Cybersecurity Specialist, you will play a crucial role in securing Hitachi Energy’s manufacturing, assembly, and test facilities across our Transformer, High-Voltage, Grid Automation, and Grid Integration businesses.
Your primary responsibilities will include the assessment, implementation, coordination, and iterative evaluation of cybersecurity controls securing our internal operations. This includes travel to site locations (spread across the Americas, Europe, and APAC) to identify and assess critical vulnerabilities and gaps in our cybersecurity controls, recommend mitigation strategies, and engage directly with our internal operations teams to maintain a strong cybersecurity posture in alignment with company and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain internal cybersecurity requirements and ensure compliance throughout the manufacturing, assembly, and test facilities.
- Conduct regular field visits to sites to complete site cybersecurity assessments and project-related needs.
- Participate in the planning, design, development, and implementation of technical controls, procedures, and policies associated with OT/ICS compliance and/or regulatory standards.
- Coordinate and lead OT/ICS security risk assessments, produce assessment reports, and ensure that metrics are reported and tracked.
- Conduct follow up on penetration test findings to remediate identified gaps in alignment with our Cybersecurity Team.
- Support our Cybersecurity Team in defining the rules and protocols for OT/ICS network monitoring.
- Participate in the evolving OT/ICS network security architecture strategies (including OT/ICS network segmentation approach).
- Assist in ongoing revisions to OT/ICS security standards and best practices.
- Interpret, design, and implement appropriate cybersecurity controls to enforce OT/ICS security standards.
- Support our Cyber Defense Center (Security Operations Center) with performing incident response activities within the OT/ICS environments.
- Support Cybersecurity Architecture and Engineering with the introduction of newly developed/released tools into the OT/ICS environments.
- Support Threat Intelligence and Detection Engineering with threat modeling to pinpoint security threats and potential vulnerabilities, quantify threat and vulnerability criticality, and prioritize remediation methods.
- Provide input to our Outreach & Awareness team to develop OT/ICS security training materials and raise awareness industrial sites on security risks and threats.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., GICSP, OSCP, CISSP) are highly desirable.
- Relevant experience (2+ years) working in the field of cybersecurity, with a specific focus on operational technology, control systems, HMIs, and PLCs.
- Have an understanding of common OT/ICS vulnerabilities and associated mitigations strategies including relevant standards such as IEC62443, ISA99, NIST 800.82 or equivalent.
- Experience with security engineering principles, various cybersecurity assessment methodologies, security control implementation, and validation, and system life-cycle practices.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate with multi-functional teams, site personnel, internal and external stakeholders.
- Exhibit a positive attitude towards all stakeholders with a high-level of internal drive and motivation.
- Ability to travel to various sites for field visits as the need arises.
