Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager,Physical Therapy and the Physical Therapist, as related to patient care, the Assistant Physical Therapy responsibilities include the following: administering patient treatments and patient education, maintaining of medical and department records, participating in staff development programs, orienting volunteers, educating students and other duties as assigned.

• Administers patient treatments according to department policies and procedures. Uses skilled techniques to provide patient care.
• Completes patient related and non-patient related documentation in a timely manner.
• Communicates patient care activities. Keeps the therapist informed of the patient’s progress, need for re-evaluation, new problems, etc.
• Achieves personal and professional development through participation in continuing education, in-services, staff orientation and student programs.
• Follows system and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
• Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure. Maintains required BLS.
• Other duties as assigned

Education:

• Associate degree in Physical Therapy.

Certifications:

• Current license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Ohio.

Complexity of Work:

• Maintains competencies specific to patient population served.

Work Experience:

• Demonstrated clinical proficiency.
• Six (6) to nine (9) months experience to become familiar and proficient with the hospital’s procedures.
