Job Summary
Conduct Early Intervention and CPSE psychological evaluations for children referred to Elizabeth Seton Children’s School by EI DOH and School District Committees. Obtain, integrate, and interpret information about behavior and identifying conditions related to learning; provide direct counseling service to students; provide consultation to staff and parents including positive behavioral interventions and supports. Administer and interpret psychological tests and incorporate other assessment procedures to evaluate students’ highest levels of abilities and identify areas of delay or disability. Complete evaluations in a timely manner in compliance with county and school district timelines.
Position Functions and Responsibilities
- Conduct psychological evaluations in accordance with State Education Department and Early Intervention regulations, and interpret results as needed for children, families, staff, and outside agencies
- As part of evaluation process gather information from family and/or caregivers to fully understand the child’s strengths, needs, interests, and life experiences; use a variety of assessment tools to best understand relevant functional and developmental information
- Write thorough, accurate and timely evaluations using a variety of formal and informal assessment strategies
- Demonstrate ability to present written and/or verbal information at staff conferences, school district and other meetings in an professional manner that clearly conveys the needs and strengths of each child in a positive and meaningful way
- Provide IEP/IFSP mandated services of psychological counseling and family training. Develop IEP/IFSP goals and objectives for children receiving psychological counseling services
- Actively participate in the creation and implementation of an individual and School wide Professional Development Plan that inspires personal growth, informs teaching practices and promotes understanding of the NYS Teaching Standards
- Carry out standards for customer service; quality improvement; professional development; environmental, safety and infection control practices; confidentiality, corporate compliance and all other Elizabeth Seton Children’s policies and procedures; attend all mandatory in-services to ensure regulatory compliance and best practices in working with students and their families
- Routine tasks related to the Elizabeth Seton Children’s program as deemed necessary by the Principal and/or the Executive Director of the School
Education Requirements:
- MSW in School Psychology or Clinical Psychology
- New York State License in Psychology
- At least 3 to 5 years of clinical experience with special needs children
- Knowledge of Early Intervention and CPSE evaluation proces
- Will consider Master's level school psychologist or Doctoral level licensed psychologist
Salary:
$100.00/Hr.
