Job description

The Director of Advancement Services (DAS) is passionate about data and finding ways to use it to help the SLUH Advancement Department make informed decisions. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Community Engagement, the DAS oversees all policy and practice related to the Advancement database and is responsible for the data health and accuracy, production of reports - most especially all donor-related lists included in the annual Gratitude Report - and oversight of the gift processing team. The DAS leads or co-leads all data driven projects and programs and will have the opportunity to grow the role of data analytics within the Advancement Department and in service to the mission of SLUH.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Maintain overall data accuracy, integrity, and security.
• Support the Advancement staff in learning and implementing best practices in data management.
• Lead the production of data for the annual Gratitude Report
• Implement a more in-depth use of analytics to inform decision-making
• Produce a wide range of reports for Advancement, Business, and President's offices
• Oversee gift processing team and hold a responsibility for 10-15% of all gifts processed
• Perform regular audits of gifts processed and ensure ongoing training and efficiencies in gift processing.
• Create and maintain database policies and procedures, in accordance with best practices and the unique SLUH environment
• Perform on-going tasks related database maintenance and data integrity
• Review effectiveness of data processes, including how jobs can be automated and/or streamlined
• Train new team members in Raiser's Edge and promote ongoing professional development for the entire team.
• Although the expected work hours are standard, some seasonal needs require early mornings, nights and/or weekends.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Represents and supports the Jesuit Catholic mission of St. Louis U. High, especially the school's commitment to securing resources for the region's most generous financial aid program.
• Expert-level proficiency of Blackbaud Raiser's Edge/NXT, preferred Blackbaud Certified Professional-level.
• Advanced capabilities with Google Suite and Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel); must be capable of complex letter merges, data filtering and manipulation, and other spreadsheet functionalities.
• Ability to work with a broad range of personalities and collaborators.
• Exceptional communication, organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Power Platform (including Power Apps, Power Automate and/or Power BI) or experience with similar automation software preferred
• Motivated by continuous improvement
• Adept at meeting deadlines, particularly with short turnaround times, and in handling multiple projects simultaneously.
• Provide staffing support at major SLUH events (Reunions, Scholarship Golf Classic, CASHBAH)

Essential Education/Experience

• Seven years experience in database administration, Blackbaud Raiser's Edge (NXT) preferred
• Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience and demonstrated accomplishment in Raiser's Edge
• 5+ years non-profit development experience preferred
