OUR ORGANIZATION:

The Edge is a 501c3, non-profit “Business As Ministry” of Destiny Church of the Christian & Missionary Alliance. We operate a 54,000 square feet facility that offers programs in sports and the arts, as well as partnering with organizations ranging from recreational groups to professional teams for rental space and events. The facility also serves as the home of Destiny Church for its worship services and ministry activities. 

Our mission is to give every man, woman and child in our region repeated opportunities to see, hear and respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our vision is to help youth cultivate their character and contribute to the world. Our strategy is to intersect culture by redeeming secular space. We do this using the platforms of sports and the arts.

THE POSITION:

We are seeking a highly motivated Business Manager to join our management team. This role will be responsible for handling the day-to-day accounting and administrative functions within the office, which serves Destiny Church and its two related entities - The Edge Sports & Arts Academy and Destiny Holdings, LLC. We are searching for a self-starter with strong attention to detail and good problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a small office, handling a wide variety of tasks at any given time. Reports to the Executive Director. 

Summary of Responsibilities: 

• Manage a broad range of day-to-day accounting functions, keeping an accurate picture of the organization’s financial status at all times. 
• Manage and provide expertise on cash flow, including budgeting, planning, and forecasting. 
• Compile data and reports for preparation of financial statements for regular updates, including quarterly and year-end reporting. 
• Collaborate with management team and CPA to continually improve the organization’s overall financial position and administrative/operational processes. 
• Manage volunteers, staff, contractors and consultants related to business management areas of the organization. 
• Oversee human resources and IT functions. 
• Manage the church’s people management software (Planning Center). 
• Answer incoming calls, provide administrative support, and other responsibilities as assigned. 

REQUIREMENTS:

• College degree in accounting, business administration or similar, or minimum equivalent of three years of general accounting/financial analysis experience; including but not limited to payables, receivables, reconciliations, journal entries, and P&L reporting. 
• Proficiency in QuickBooks preferred. 
• Strong business acumen and understanding of inter-related business processes. 
• Tech savvy with a minimum of intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel. Working knowledge in a Mac environment a plus. 
• Ability to meet deadlines, manage projects, multi-task and have strong attention to detail. 
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
• Called to serve in this role in fulfilling the mission, vision and strategy of Destiny Church and its related entities - The Edge Sports & Arts Academy and Destiny Holdings, LLC. 
• In agreement with the doctrine, mission, vision, values and strategy of Destiny Church. 

THE ENVIRONMENT: 

The work environment is energetic, active and friendly. It is an office setting and sports facility with occasional meetings and errands outside of the building. It may be necessary for the employee to use his/her personal automobile to attend meetings outside of the office/facility or complete errands. Interruptions do occur, including visits from youth patrons, parents/guardians, staff and volunteers. The office has filtered air. 

Our Story The Edge is a “business as ministry” outreach of Destiny Church. Instead of building or buying a traditional church structure, we chose a different way to serve our community. We call it, “Intersecting culture by redeeming secular space.” Our facility serves the community through the platforms of sports and art programming.
