DEPARTMENT NAME: Recreation

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, organize and direct a varied program of social, recreational, cultural, and religious activities and programs for the residents of the Western States Senior & Retirement Communities. Maintain and direct the transportation program of Western States Senior & Retirement Communities. Meet or exceed Western States Senior & Retirement Communities standard for hospitality and service.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Executive Director

Supervises: Activity Assistants and Drivers

Interfaces with: Residents, families, visitors, general public and associates

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

Develop and produce a monthly calendar of recreational, social, cultural and religious activities.

Develop and produce a periodic community newsletter of special events and special interest stories for distribution to the residents and their families.

Plan, set up, and supervise as appropriate scheduled recreational, social, cultural and religious events.

Develop, implement and monitor a program of transportation that includes private and group transportation.

Meet or exceed residents' expectations while maintaining expenditures within budgetary limits.

Supervise staff in accordance with Western States Senior & Retirement Communities associate relations policies and procedures.

Perform any other reasonable task assigned by your supervisor.

Attend in service training as required.

Maintain and protect the confidentiality of resident information at all times.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Self starter, with ability to plan, organize and implement a varied program of social recreation, cultural, and religious activities for large population of elderly.

Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing with residents, families and the general public.

Ability to make presentations to a variety of publics.

Ability to demonstrate basic computer skills.

Team player able to work with fellow associates and others.

Willingness to work with the elderly.
