DESCRIPTION

Amazon Lab126 is an inventive research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile devices like the Kindle family of products. Lab126 began in 2004 as a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc. Since then, we have worked to produce best-selling e-readers and tablets, as well as new inventions like Fire TV and the category-defining Echo.

Key job responsibilities
• Conceive, design and develop innovative hardware and controls architectures for new products.
• Serve as technical lead for system design, including development of 3D models/assemblies, control systems, sensor selection and/or electrical schematics.
• Work within a multi-disciplinary team that includes vendors, mechanical/software engineers to develop cutting-edge technology.
• Develop business case, application, and theory of operation for engineering systems and document for senior management.
• Drive product definition, development execution and testing. Identify and validate product risks and work with team to mitigate them.
• Specify testing to verify compliance with requirements. Interface with engineering managers, product management and/or program management to drive new product development programs from concept to commercialization.
• Engage with vendors and technology suppliers to evaluate and select technology applicable to program objectives.
• Be hands-on to bring online new product prototypes, conduct verification testing and performance validation.
• Provide up-to-date, accurate information to colleagues and management. Mentor and coach new engineers and interns.
• Support cost reduction and sustaining activities

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or equivalent
- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
