Overview
Assist in all technical aspects of patient management including simulation and treatment planning, treatment procedures, dosimetry, fabrication of treatment aids and chart documentation processes in accordance with the orders of the Radiation Oncologist and under the direct supervision of a Registered Radiation Therapist.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Radiation Therapist, the Student Radiation Therapist will:
Assist in simulation and radiation treatment planning processes and procedures adhering to institutional policies and procedures, governmental regulations, and professional standards.
Assist in radiation treatment delivery adhering to institutional policies and procedures, governmental regulations, and professional standards.
Perform patient charting as it pertains to simulation, radiation treatment delivery and billing.
Provide patient education and assessment of patient needs during simulation and radiation treatment processes.
Coordinate patient schedules/transportation related to simulation and radiation treatment processes and procedures.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: REQUIRED:
Currently attending an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program with sufficient credits to graduate within 6 months.
PREFERRED:
Bachelor?s degree in Radiologic Technology or related field.
EXPERIENCE: REQUIRED:
3 to 6 months of clinical experience as a radiation therapist student in an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program.
PREFERRED:
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: REQUIRED:
BLS (CPR) - American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
Eligible to take Radiation Therapy Certification exam within 6-9 months from date of hire.
Must become certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy (RT-T) within 6-9 months of date of hire.
