Job description

The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.

LA28, the organizers for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, is on a mission to create an unparalleled Games experience for athletes, fans, partners, our community and our people. Our vision is to collectively create what’s next through sport, community and the power of our differences.

The 2028 Olympics and Paralympics will represent LA and leverage the strength of our community’s diversity and creativity as we collectively work to design a Games that we all want to be a part of. We do this by focusing on people and by inviting everyone into the story of the LA28 Games.

Summer Intern, Marketing:

The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter, quick learner, and passionate about digital marketing, mass communications, social media, web, email/CRM, analytics, and aligning with an organization rooted in promoting the Games, Sports, Community, and Culture here in Los Angeles and beyond. 

Coursework in integrated marketing communications, media, and data/analytics is a plus. Writing, copy editing, production planning, and project management experience highly desired.  

LA28 is a growing organization, and this hire will play an important part in helping build the foundation for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. The Marketing Intern reports to the Digital Marketing Manager.  

Functional areas of Marketing Supported by 2024 Summer Intern:

Games Experience & Engagement (GEE)

The GEE Department is the powerhouse behind the delivery of large-scale fan engagement and spectator experience programs, including initiatives such as the Torch Relays, Olympic Truce program, Olympic & Paralympic Education Program, Live Sites and Fan Festivals, Community Engagement programs like LA28 Celebrates and Day of Sport.  At this stage, FEE team is also responsible for developing a strategy for Games Ceremonies and Sport Presentation.  

Possible Projects:

Digital Engagement

LA28's Marketing and Brand Engagement team leads the digital storytelling and marketing of the brand.  The team collaborates internally with cross-departments and externally with our audiences (athletes, fans, community, and partners) by providing engaging content through storytelling across channels and fan-centric events. 

Key channels that LA28 focuses on includes: Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, LA28.org, and email

Work Location: We are located in Los Angeles, CA near the UCLA campus. We work in a hybrid work environment with 4 days in the office and 1 day remote, unless otherwise specified by your manager. 

Internship Duration: June 17, 2024 - August 16, 2024 (9 weeks)

LA28 does not offer housing or relocation assistance.  

The hourly rate for this position is $18.00 per hour. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role.
