Job Title: Registered Nurse - Oncology 
Location: Rapid City, SD
Duration: 3 Months

Overview:

As a Registered Nurse specializing in Oncology, you will be an integral part of the healthcare team providing compassionate and comprehensive care to patients with cancer. Your role involves delivering specialized nursing care, supporting patients and their families through the cancer journey, and collaborating with the oncology team to optimize patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Assessment and Care Planning:

Conduct thorough assessments of patients with cancer, considering their physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs.
Develop and implement individualized care plans based on the specific requirements of each patient.

Chemotherapy Administration:

Administer chemotherapy treatments and other oncology-related medications, ensuring adherence to protocols and safety measures.
Monitor patients for adverse reactions and provide appropriate interventions as needed.

Symptom Management:

Assist patients in managing symptoms related to cancer and its treatment, such as pain, nausea, and fatigue.
Educate patients on self-care strategies and provide resources for symptom management.

Patient and Family Education:

Provide comprehensive education to patients and their families about the diagnosis, treatment options, and potential side effects.
Support patients in making informed decisions about their care.

Collaboration with Oncology Team:

Work collaboratively with oncologists, nurse practitioners, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate and deliver multidisciplinary care.
Participate in tumor boards and treatment planning meetings.

Psychosocial Support:

Offer emotional support to patients and their families throughout the cancer journey.
Collaborate with social workers and counselors to address psychosocial needs.

Palliative and End-of-Life Care:

Provide palliative care to patients with advanced cancer, focusing on enhancing quality of life and managing symptoms.
Support patients and families during end-of-life care, ensuring dignity and comfort.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, documenting assessments, interventions, and patient responses.
Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, providing updates on patient status and changes in treatment plans.

Qualifications:

Physical Requirements:

Ability to provide direct patient care, including administering medications and managing patient symptoms.
Emotional resilience to provide support during challenging moments.

Working Conditions:

Primarily within the oncology unit or infusion center.
Varied shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
