Echo Canyon River Expeditions / Royal Gorge Cabins is accepting applications for a Maintenance Lead position. This is a full time seasonal position from March through October. Hourly rate of pay is $16 to $18 per hour based on experience, skills, and availability. This position includes janitorial duties, landscape maintenance, snow removal in winter, staining and painting interior and exterior spaces, work on ladders, physical labor duties, parking lot attendant, and a variety of other tasks that will find you getting your hands dirty. You will work under the maintenance manager, leading a small group of summer seasonal maintenance staff. This range of duties includes maintaining the Echo Canyon rafting facility, 8 Mile Bar & Grill, and Royal Gorge Cabins. Please note, you will be working with a team of maintenance staff in the summer. During the non-peak season you must be self-directed and will work with the maintenance manager on special projects.

Applicants should be adept at a variety of yard maintenance and home repair-type tasks. Ideally, this applicant has some knowledge of light electrical, basic plumbing, basic carpentry, and is comfortable using power tools, lawn mowers, etc. Strong organizational skills are a must to keep tools and supplies in order. Punctuality and reliability are required traits. The ability to work well in a team environment, and the ability to effectively communicate in a positive manner with young summer seasonal workers is absolutely essential. Early and late season hours can be dependent on weather based on projects available.

Responsibilities include:

• Maintain presentable appearance and positive attitude at all times with guests and fellow employees
• Ensuring all areas of the property are clean and tidy with regular cleaning schedules implemented and executed by you and the maintenance team
• Assisting with keeping grass and landscape areas are maintained
• Sanding, staining, and painting indoor and outdoor surfaces as needed
• Comfortable with use of a variety of power tools
• Develop basic level of understanding of power tools and other tools as needed
• Assist with Repairing / maintaining facility fixtures that don't require professional trade expertise (i.e. re-seat a leaky toilet, replace/repair leaky faucet, change furnace filters, etc.)
• Operate riding lawn mower, weed trimmer
• Drive maintenance vehicles as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

Required:

• Reliable, punctual, and available to work daily schedules that will change with the seasons
• Available to work weekends
• Experience with variety of power tools
• Good driving record, valid driver's license, and ability to safely operate a full sized pickup truck
• Willingness to submit your Motor Vehicle Record
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English
• Basic computer experience to check email, create task lists, access Google Drive
• Please note a background check will be performed

Preferred:

• Experience driving a vehicle with a trailer, backing up a trailer
• Customer service experience

Physical Requirements to Perform Job Duties:

• Ability to stand and walk on paved, unpaved, uneven, and sometimes slippery surfaces for extended periods of time
• Ability to kneel, bend, stoop, and squat, repetitively
• Extensive use of fingers and hands to perform repair and maintenance tasks
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds daily
• Able to visually inspect job sites, equipment, and staff for compliance
• The worker is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions: Adverse conditions may include extreme heat and/or cold, wind, and sometimes inclement weather
• Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle as required in various weather conditions
