Location : Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction (ACAGJ), Grand Junction, CO

FLSA Status : Exempt

Reports To : Dean of Grammar School

Work days : M-F, School days and professional development days

Compensation Range : $44,000 - $55,000 annually

Start Date : August 1, 2024*

*Please note all teachers will need to be able to attend teacher training in Hillsdale, MI, for up to 10 days in June. Travel to the conference, as well as lodging and food, are covered by ACAGJ and Hillsdale.

Position Summary

At Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction(ACAGJ), teachers create their lessons within the framework set by our content-rich curriculum in collaboration with colleagues and partnership with Hillsdale College's Barney Charter School Initiative. Teachers are dedicated to mastering the key elements of their instruction and to their students' intellectual and moral betterment. Ascent Classical Academies teachers take seriously their moral and intellectual improvement as part of a hard-working, supportive, and excellence-driven culture.

ACAGJ is seeking a qualified Reading Interventionist for the 2024-25 school year.

• Supports primary teachers in the appropriate identification of students in kindergarten through grade 6 needing reading intervention
• Provides one-on-one and small group reading instruction to students needing reading intervention
• Works with classroom teachers to push in to the class for reading support, as needed
• Plans and uses appropriate, research-based instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of identified students in the area of reading
• Uses assessment data to drive instructional decisions on a daily basis
• Develops and implements daily lesson plans and small group activities, consistent with Colorado State standards, current research methodology, and classical pedagogy
• Completes benchmark assessments as well as progress monitoring in compliance with the READ Act
• Provides students with specific evaluative feedback
• Communicates effectively with students, teachers and parents

Required Skills/Abilities

• Bachelor's Degree
• Strong background in content areas; willingness to receive specific training
• Eligibility to work in the United States
• A satisfactory background check is required by state law and the Colorado Department of Education
• Conviction in the values of a rigorous liberal arts education

• Commitment to model moral character in line with the school's core virtues

Preferred skills/abilities:

• Master's Degree is a bonus but not required
• School experience

Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools, Inc. (ACACS) is a network of public charter schools in Colorado comprised of four campuses. The governing Board of Directors at ACACS has contracted with Minga Education Group (MEG) to provide employment services for all staff at ACACS. Through this partnership, MEG provides employment services, a personnel system for human resources, benefits, payroll services, and access to 401(k) plan.
