SAIC is seeking a Platform Service and Operations Lead to join our Avalon Platform Engineering and Sustainment team. This is a full-time remote job that can be worked anywhere within the U.S.
As a Lead, you will play a critical role in building a Platform Engineering and Sustainment Center of Excellence around our Avalon Platform Ecosystem. This position requires expertise in IT Service Management, Operations Management, Cloud Engineering all within a Platform Engineering Cloud/Hybrid environment. The ideal candidate will be self-directed, autonomous, empowered, comfortable with being uncomfortable, a coach, and a critical thinker.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of platform operations and service management strategies within the Digital Innovation Platform Engineering organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, deploy, and manage cloud-based and hybrid-cloud environments.
- Establish and enforce best practices based on commonly utilized frameworks such as ITIL, NIST, and DevOps.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize platform operations, service delivery, and customer satisfaction.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of Platform Operations and Service Engineers.
- Develop and maintain service catalogs, service level agreements (SLAs), and operational documentation.
- Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements in all platform operations and service management activities.
- Identify and mitigate risks, incidents, and problems through effective incident and problem management processes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and implement automation and orchestration opportunities to streamline operations.
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies related to cloud-native technologies and service management.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. In lieu of a degree, four additional years of experience will be considered.
- Minimum of nine years or more of experience combined with Service Management, Operations Management, and/or Cloud Engineering.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and managing platform operations and service delivery teams.
- Strong self-directed and autonomous work ethic.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to coach and mentor team members.
- Strong experience in Platform Engineering, Service Management, Operations Management, and Cloud Engineering.
- Proficient in utilizing commonly utilized frameworks such as ITIL, NIST, and DevOps.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with cloud-native technologies and services.
- Knowledge of security and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in incident management, problem management, and change management processes.
- Experience in developing and maintaining service catalogs and SLAs.
- Strong analytical skills to identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Desired Qualifications and Certifications:
- Certifications in Service Management frameworks such as ITIL.
- Certifications in Cloud Engineering (e.g., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Azure Administrator).
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and practices.
