Under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy, performs or supervises all technical, distributive and clinical functions of the pharmacy. It is understood that each pharmacist brings a unique blend of skills and experience to the pharmacy team. In order to take advantage of these qualifications, the tasks assigned to each pharmacist may vary widely.
The Staff Pharmacist performs all pharmacy related functions in compliance with departmental, clinical and organizational policies and procedures as well as state and federal laws and regulations, national guidelines, accreditation standards and best practices and will participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to ensure utmost regulatory compliance, patient and medication safety, customer service and quality care.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy required; Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred.
- Must be licensed by the State of Michigan as a Registered Pharmacist.
- Previous hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
- Successful completion of hospital pharmacy residency program preferred.
- Oncology board certification (BCOP) or desire to become board certified in oncology preferred.
- Willing to work shifts as assigned, and to be "on call". Must be willing to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as assigned.
- Ability to work well with others, and to supervise the department when the Director is not in the pharmacy.
- Computer skills adequate for entry and retrieval of patient information.
- Experience using computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and pharmacy information systems preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality care, patient and medication safety and customer service.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a wide range of people.
- Ability to collaborate with and participate in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Must have the ability to work independently and organize several projects.
- Must have the ability to prioritize tasks, think critically and respond to concerns.
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day.
- Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Must keep patients safe.
