Job description
Tele-Optometry provides an exciting opportunity! DigitalOptometrics is a fast-growing, innovative company that provides a comprehensive eye exam to patients using our patented remote technology. This remote experience supports added flexibility for Optometrists and expanded options for patients to schedule an eye exam.
We are actively seeking a Controller to add to our rapidly expanding Accounting Department. This is a full-time, on-site position located in our Lake Success, Long Island office.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with
GAAP. - Preparation of the monthly financial analysis for management.
- Manage the annual financial audit and tax preparation process performed by our
independent CPA firm and state sales tax filings. - Report directly to the Chief Financial Officer ("CFO").
- Manage and oversee the accounting department.
- Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
- Review transaction coding and financial statements for accuracy, legal compliance, and
alignment to budgeted expense coding. - Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities with the
company are consistent, and in accordance with company policies and procedures. - Measure and analyze processes which impact quality and influence internal operating
efficiency. - Participate in the budgeting process, setting targets and deadlines for the department.
- With input from the CFO, work on the formulation of accounting policies, procedures,
and controls.
Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant designation a plus, but not required.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or another related discipline.
- 7+ years of experience working in a corporate accounting department.
- Understanding of federal and state tax compliance requirements.
- Experience in corporate accounting and fiscal management.
- Experience in all staff accounting functions including, but not limited to, books of original
entry, general ledger, billings, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and cash
management. - Knowledge of budget preparation and analysis techniques.
- Monitor internal controls and implement financial policies and procedures.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- People skills and ability to cultivate and maintain staff relationships.
- Management experience, with the ability to train and develop accounting staff.
- Leadership, communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
