Position: Business Development Manager - Construction
Reports to: Director of Client Services
Status: Exempt
JOB SUMMARY:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for the strategic management and execution of Caliente Construction's pursuits and financial growth. This role will identify opportunities and develop and nurture strategic partnerships across various market sectors. The Business Development Manager will drive business growth within the Company and will lead and oversee the implementation of business objectives.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Evaluates current Company marketing initiatives and project sales performance to assist in identifying business growth opportunities; Requires in-depth knowledge of the Company's history, policies, procedures, clientele, strategic plan, and vision
- Proactively pursues and enhances new business relationships and organizations whose core business philosophies align with the Strategy, Vision, Mission, and Values of the Company
- Develops and fosters new and existing relationships using persistent communication to ensure that potential project opportunity success is maximized
- Expressed willingness to collaborate with Marketing on strategic pursuits
- Strives to achieve project acquisition success rates in accordance with the Company's strategic plan by targeting specific market sectors and clients
- Attends and actively participates in conferences, trade shows, and other networking events; ability to travel with short notice at times
- Collaborates with project stakeholders, including Executive leadership, to ensure requirements are met, such as project opportunities, profitability, and revenue goals
- Represents the Company in accordance with Company direction and understands the need to consult with Managers and Executives before making commitments
- Liaises with Executive leadership for writing business proposals
- Manages the CRM software and provides CRM-related reporting alongside the Marketing team
- Responsible for establishing a definitive Go/No-Go process and schedules meetings with decision makers as needed
- Stays informed of the construction industry as a whole as well as market sectors related to the areas of Company interest and regularly attends and maintains a high profile at local industry presentations, conferences, and other similar networking opportunities

- A four-year degree in marketing/business/communications or related field of study in addition to five (5) years job-related experience (construction industry preferred)
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of assigned software applications such as Cosential/Unanet, Microsoft Office Suite and others that may be required
- Powerful negotiation skills and a winning mentality
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills, detailed, efficient, and reliable
- Team player with the ability to recognize how individual actions affect the team as a whole
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, flexible and adaptable to changes to planned tasks or schedule
- Capable of maintaining a positive attitude at all times and conduct oneself with integrity
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work 40 hours per week or more if required
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 20 lbs. unassisted
- May require repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers
- May require prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing throughout workday
- Willingness to travel and meet with prospective clients
- Valid driver license and proof of insurability required when job duties require use of motor vehicle
- Requires exercising discretion with decision making and maintains strict confidentiality with respect to Company proprietary information
