The Hennepin County Public Health Clinic (PHC) is hiring two full-time Disease Intervention Specialists within the Disease Intervention team who will do clinic and street-based outreach to connect with people newly diagnosed with HIV and syphilis (as well as any possible co-infections) to interview, educate, arrange treatment, and confidentially work with their sexual (and/or needle sharing) partners to provide testing and treatment services as needed. These positions will focus on Red Door patients as well as unsheltered homeless and populations living in and around encampments in Hennepin County. These positions will specialize in connecting individuals to specialized resources that would include medication assisted treatment, PrEP, rapid ART, syringe exchange, and Naloxone, in addition to linking people to more individualized resources.


The Public Health Clinic (PHC) is a respected leader in providing sexual health services, comprehensive testing & treatment for tuberculosis, and refugee health exams. The PHC is home to the Red Door Clinic, Minnesota’s largest HIV and sexually transmitted infection clinic. The Red Door Clinic has been providing culturally sensitive and sexually affirming services for the last 52 years. The mission of the PHC is to reduce health disparities, increase access, and promote health across communities with specialized services that value evidence-based, client-centered care to create empowered and healthy communities.

Location and hours:


This position is hybrid and will be performed at the Public Health Clinic located at 525 Portland Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55415, in the community and remote as job duties require. Currently, the clinic is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Thursday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. This position will have a flexible schedule to participate in outreach events and respond to positive test results that may require an immediate response. No overnight or holiday shifts are required. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.


New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.
