Position Description
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Degree/Education: Degree: Bachelor's Degree. Education: Graduate from an accredited college or university certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
* Experience: Have at least (3) Three years of experience of clinical competency.
* Licensure: Possess current unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant in one of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
* Clinical Certification: Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants (NCCPA).
* Board Certification: Board-eligible or board certified as required in the TO.
* Life Support Certification: Possess and maintain a current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
* Must be a U.S citizen and have the ability to pass a background check/security clearance.
CORE PA DUTIES: The duties include but are not limited to the following:
*The scope of privileges for a Physician Assistant (PA) includes the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients of all ages with any symptom, illness, injury, or condition. PAs provide medical services within the scope of practice of the collaborating physician(s), including routine primary and preventive care of children and adults. PAs may refer patients to specialty clinics, and assess, stabilize, and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions.
* Provide a full range of Physician Assistant services in primary and specialty medical care within the limits of their training and privileges granted by the MTF (e.g., supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated).
* Technically direct and provide care for a variety of diseases and types of injuries (i.e., acute, chronic and minor trauma), and the skills to recognize emergency conditions in order to diagnose, prescribe for and treat diseases, disorders and injuries, and refer the more complex cases and serious conditions to qualified medical personnel and perform designated treatment.
* Technically direct and teach other staff, provide educational lectures and participate in in-service training to staff members.
* Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.
* Prescribe in accordance with approved treatment protocols and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee-approved medications and immunizations.
* Identify a medical problem and determine appropriate action to meet the problem, including referral to a physician.
* Perform specific diagnostic and therapeutic practices and procedures by scope of practice.
* Establish collaborative rapport with physicians, nurses, and others to promote and facilitate primary care services.
* Teach patients and family members a healthy regimen and responsibility for achieving wellness.
* Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement.
STAFFING and SCHEDULING:
* Duty Hours: The schedule or scheduling process is as follows: Scheduling is following specific clinic’s needs to meet patient care requirements. Duty hours will be Monday-Friday, 0730-1630; Flexible Duty hours between 0600-1800 to satisfy patient needs, at the government supervisor's discretion. The employee shall not work more than 40 hours per week.
* Place of Performance: The work to be performed under this contract will be at Tinker AFB 7050 Air Depot Blvd, Bldg 1094, Tinker AFB, OK 73145. HCWs shall receive notification 5 days before the reassignment to another location.
