Position Summary:
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Project Assistant for the Heldrich Center for Workforce Development within the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. This position assists in the execution of workforce development, education and training research activities, studies, technical assistance activities, and research projects predominately using the New Jersey Statewide Data System (
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Maintains meta-data, statistical code for processing data, and supports monitoring of a data warehouse.
- Identifies and calculates appropriate performance measures for tracking the effectiveness of education and workforce programs.
- Identifies and implements the most appropriate statistical models for conducting quantitative studies of data.
- Assists in the execution of workforce development, education and training research activities, studies, technical assistance activities, and research projects predominately using the New Jersey Statewide Data System (
- Conducts and writes literature reviews.
- Processes, cleans and verifies the integrity of data used for analysis.
- Develops research designs for studies and evaluations involving quantitative and mixed methods.
- Assists in the development of data collection protocols and IRB packages.
- Assists in data collection, including conducting interviews and focus groups, developing transcripts, and supporting data analysis.
- Provides governance, maintenance, and data analysis support to the New Jersey Statewide Data System ( NJSDS ).
- Assists in preparing meeting agendas, meeting summaries, research briefs, and other research or evaluation project materials.
- Produces timely and high-quality writing, tabular and visual materials for research reports and presentations.
- Assists in research project management activities such as monitoring project budgets, preparing financial and progress reports.
- Communicates with study sponsors on study progress.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferably in public policy, social work, education, sociology or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant research experience.

Equipment Utilized:
- The position is expected to have a strong command of Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint. Position requires training in a tool used for quantitative analysis or querying data ( SQL ).
