The Role you will play as the Director, Ambulatory Surgery Center for Animas:
As the ASCE Director, you would have your finger on the pulse of the market and understanding of the needs of the local communities, working closely with leadership to enhance services, open new facilities/services, grow the program and volumes, and ensure continued quality, improve policies and process to support the employees, quality, and mission of the organization.
Specifically, they are looking to add more service lines and grow volumes. Growing/implementing Orhto, Spine, and Ophthalmology services is on their radar, previous experience in these programs would be of interest and one of the main functions/pillars of this role.

Sandra Connell – Director of Surgical Services
Sandra joined the Animas team within the past year as the Director of Surgical Services. She moved to Durango for a change in lifestyle. She was familiar with our central mountains from friends she has in the area and trips she has taken in the past. She loves the outdoors and the many things to do in the four corners area of Colorado!
She adjusts her leadership style to fit those she is working with, she has high expectations and is supportive. Willing to roll up her sleeves you will find her on occasion cleaning rooms, and scrubbing in, she is a visible and supportive leader who communicates openly and expects a high level of communication between team members.
Reports to the CNO Nolan Tarkington
Nolan has a long background in healthcare. Interestingly enough he started his career as a firefighter/EMT in Albuquerque NM, subsequently became an RN and worked clinically for about 10 years before moving into management. Nolan appreciates the agile leadership team they have, and is someone who leads by example, he always willing to jump in and lend a hand. Described as a kind and empathetic leader who has a successful track record of delivering on projects - from EMR, to opening a new ASC.
Nolan is driven and analytical, someone is who is oriented to get things done, works hard and is described as being supportive and nurturing. Having a mindset of learning and growth he has a servant leadership approach to supporting those on the team seeing his role as to provide you with tools, resources, and skills to be successful.

Durango is a small city in southwestern Colorado, near the New Mexico border. The 19th-century Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad steam train passes mountains and canyons. In the city center, its affiliated Railroad Museum displays restored locomotives, aircraft and a baggage car converted into a movie theater. Nearby, the Powerhouse Science Center offers interactive exhibits in a former power plant.
