Job description

JCC Greater Boston is seeking talented and experienced individuals to join our team as Family Engagement Program Designer & Lead for Pomi. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and leading innovative programs and events for our new mobile vehicle, Pomi. Pomi serves families with young children in Greater Boston by providing engaging experiences and opportunities for connection. The Program Designer and Lead develops, designs, and leads unique curriculum and programs for Pomi.

These programs and workshops offer enriching, supportive, and memorable experiences for kids and families at Pomi programs. Primary areas of responsibility include but are not limited to designing program curriculum and activities from start to finish, partnering with Pomi Director of Programming to secure program site/location/date(s), leading each program event, and directing program set-up, implementation, and clean-up.

The starting salary for this position is $27.46 - $33.35 per hour. The scope of the position will ultimately determine the salary offered, the candidate’s relevant experience, and internal equity. This is a part-time position, and hours will vary between 5-10 hours per week.

Requirements

• Propose and design unique programs, workshops, or series for Pomi families.

• Prepare curriculum and content for the Pomi Program Director’s review and approval. This includes intended program goals, outcomes, and budget.
• Lead the set-up of the program area; this may include transportation of materials to program site, unloading materials, set-up of program space and stations
• Staff welcome table or registration area, track attendance, and support a welcoming, friendly atmosphere for families with young children
• Confidently lead the program content
• Share program and audience feedback with Pomi, Director of Programming
• Manage clean-up and post-event needs which may include moving tables, chairs, play equipment, etc

• Create and design engaging and educational programs and events for families with young children. Develop a wide range of activities, including playdates, workshops, holiday celebrations, and special events that align with the goals of the Pomi program
• Lead and facilitate Pomi programs and events, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants. Provide guidance and support to families with young children, creating meaningful connections and offering resources and information
• Collaborate with other JCC Greater Boston staff, agencies, and community organizations to develop partnerships and promote the Pomi program. Actively seek opportunities for collaboration and community engagement
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education, social work, or relevant field for study. Certifications are a plus. Master’s Degree preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in program design and facilitation, ideally with a focus on family engagement or early childhood education

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC’s discretion to meet minimum criteria .

• Demonstrated specific expertise as required for the program content and goals.

• Knowledge and familiarity with the needs of families with young children, with a creative ability to support a welcoming, joyful environment for families.
• Ability to support programs that integrate Jewish values for compelling and joyful experiences
• Confident and engaging presence that welcomes families into the Pomi program
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to multitask and manage situations effectively and diplomatically; ability to adapt to evolving needs and circumstances.
• Must be a self-starter who takes the initiative.
• Superb interpersonal and active listening skills
• Works well independently and with others

Physical Requirements:

Must have a valid Mass Drivers license and access to a vehicle to attend events across Greater Boston. Able to work well in a busy, dynamic, and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities. Able to lift and carry objects weighing 30-40 pounds (boxes of supplies, moving tables, and chairs, etc. Able to sit and kneel; getting down at eye level with children regularly.
