Job description
Job Summary:
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with TMS Experience is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric care, including the administration of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation therapy, to patients across the lifespan. This role involves assessing patients, diagnosing mental health disorders, formulating treatment plans, and delivering TMS therapy as part of a holistic approach to patient care. Additionally, the PMHNP collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for patients.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychiatric assessments: Perform thorough evaluations of patients to assess their mental health status, including obtaining a comprehensive history, conducting mental status exams, and utilizing appropriate assessment tools.
- Diagnose mental health disorders: Utilize diagnostic criteria from the DSM-5 or other relevant sources to accurately diagnose various mental health conditions.
- Develop individualized treatment plans: Collaborate with patients and their families to create tailored treatment plans that may include TMS therapy, medication management, psychotherapy, and other interventions.
- Administer TMS therapy: Safely and effectively deliver Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation therapy to patients, following established protocols and guidelines.
- Prescribe and manage medications: Prescribe appropriate psychotropic medications, monitor their effectiveness, and adjust dosages as necessary. Educate patients about medication management and potential side effects.
- Provide psychotherapy: Offer evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, or other modalities based on patient needs.
- Monitor and follow up: Conduct regular follow-up appointments to assess treatment progress, address concerns, and make adjustments to the treatment plan as needed.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals: Work closely with psychologists, social workers, counselors, and other healthcare providers to ensure holistic care and coordinate services.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation: Document all patient interactions, assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, TMS therapy sessions, and progress notes in compliance with legal and organizational standards.
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards: Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and professional standards, including those outlined by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and other relevant bodies.
Qualifications:
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
- State licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with specialization in psychiatric-mental health.
- DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) registration for prescribing controlled substances.
- Experience in administering Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy.
