Class Summary Job Description The role of the manager is to provide guidance in the development and implementation of workforce development policies, practices, and programs that promote job growth, education, and training. The Workforce Development Manager will focus on building a network of business-focused relationships to understand the workforce climate of Gwinnett County and its businesses. This position is responsible for coordinating with target sectors to evaluate the current workforce needs and establishing a plan to attract and retain a high-quality workforce profile for Gwinnett County. This position requires one to remain up to speed on current workforce trends, including staying informed about new talent and education programs offered in Gwinnett County and surrounding areas.
Essential Duties - Promote Workforce Development practices internally and externally by developing strong relationships, serving on committees and councils, marketing to community events and civic organizations; Assist in the creation, development, and distribution of promotional materials;
- Participate in job fairs, professional conferences, workshops, career days, employee orientations, and regional and statewide meetings as assigned.
- Collaborate with Coordinator/Specialist(s) of Workforce Development to establish and maintain positive relationships between education institutions and relevant business, governmental, and community initiatives.
- Coordinate with local and regional talent development and educational partners to determine current and future workforce needs.
- Host target sector career fairs and job placement workshops.
- Meet with Gwinnett County top employers and existing industries to determine workforce challenges and provide solutions to mitigate challenges.
- Connect businesses to tools and resources to help attract and retain employees.
- Maintain a high standard of professional and ethical practice in representing the county.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and/or confidential information.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the field or discipline with continued adherence to professional accountability.
- Provide a high level of service to customers by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and partnerships.
- Apply for grants and other funding opportunities to advance workforce development programs and initiatives.
- Utilize independent judgment in problem solving of complex issues.
- Carry out the duties outlined in the Office of Economic Development's Strategic plan and other duties as necessary.
- Maintain a relationship with Gwinnett County OneStop locations to understand the unemployment needs and challenges for at-risk individuals across the county.

Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Six years of progressively responsible professional level accounting experience, supervisory experience preferred.
- Or, and equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor's degree from a nationally accredited institution required.
- Minimum of Five years' experience with Workforce Development initiatives, Continuing Education, or Adult Education in a post-secondary institution required
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), electronic calendaring, data entry, and have accurate record-keeping skills
- Must have strong organizational and problem-solving skills with a high degree of detail orientation and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Generally, works in a traditional climate-controlled office environment and requires the ability to sit for extended periods. Some walking, standing, and bending required, and the ability to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 25 pounds.
