General Summary of Position:

The Richard A. Miner School of Computer & Information Sciences (CIS) at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for two tenure-track open rank faculty positions (Assistant, Associate or Full) to start in September 2024 . The Miner School of Computer & Information Sciences (CIS) was launched in Summer 2022 and named in honor of distinguished alumnus Rich Miner, co-founder of Android, the company and mobile operating system that Google acquired and launched.

The Miner School of Computer & Information Sciences:

The School currently has 23 tenured and tenure-track faculty members, 6 full-time teaching faculty members, 1 visiting lecturer, and a few adjunct instructors serving over 1,000 Computer Science (CS) BS students, 228 CS-MS students, and 70 CS-PhD students. It also offers a BS, an MS and an AS (Associate of Science) in Information Technology (IT) online with 512, 118, and 36 students respectively (Information Technology degrees courses are taught by a separate faculty body). It offers bioinformatics options, a robotics minor, a data science option, a cybersecurity option, and a PhD in computational mathematics. The School is looking to fill a number of tenure-track/tenured positions in the next few years. In the last two years, the CIS faculty has received approximately $20M in external research funding from NSF, DARPA, DOD, DHE, NIH, NIST, and industry. Research expenditures have more than doubled over the last five years. The School has 7 NSF CAREER Award recipients. More information about the School can be found at

Outstanding candidates in all areas of computer and information science will be considered, and are encouraged to apply. In addition to developing a strong research program, a successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, including school core and specialty areas based on the candidate's expertise.The ideal candidate should establish a vigorous externally funded research program, show great potential for excellence in teaching, and promote diversity, equity and inclusion.
