Salary Range: $17/Hour

Job Description:

​​ The Professional Biology Tutor will meet face-to-face to assist students with biology subject courses, and address course-related concerns. The tutor will communicate with students in various formats to answer questions about the Tutoring Center and to promote the service. The tutor will assist in the collection of usage data and student feedback surveys. The tutor will develop supplemental material to support study skills.​

Required Qualifications:

• ​​Bachelor's degree in biology, or related field, plus experience tutoring or teaching in subject field. Previous and current transcripts accepted
• ​Demonstrates sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and disabled backgrounds of community college students
• ​Excellent customer service skills required
• ​Strong organizational skills including the ability to multi-task, to meet deadlines, to maintain and access paper and electronic files, to produce error-free final products, and to manage time and output
• ​Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate in both small and large group settings and with diverse groups of people including co-workers and students at various levels from front-line to administration
• ​Illustrates a history of successfully collaborating with coworkers on a regular basis to achieve common goals
• ​Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• ​Enthusiastic and dedicated to the challenges of helping other people
• ​Professional in communications, appearance, relationships, and responsiveness
• ​Positive attitude
• ​Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
• ​Self-starter with the ability to perform with little direct supervision

• Normal Office
• Light work (lift 10 lbs.)
• Frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, telephone and basic office equipment
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear
