Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and organized
Accounting Clerk with a strong focus on cash application to join their accounting team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent numerical skills, a high level of accuracy and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role will primarily involve the timely and accurate application of cash receipts to customer accounts, as well as assisting with other accounting duties as needed.
Accounting Clerk Responsibilities:
- Perform daily cash application tasks, including posting payments, reconciling cash receipts and ensuring accuracy of applied payments
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between payments received and invoiced amounts
- Process electronic payments, checks and other forms of payment received from customers
- Collaborate with the billing department to ensure accurate and timely invoicing
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all cash transactions and account reconciliations
- Assist with month-end close processes, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations related to cash transactions
- Generate and distribute reports detailing cash application activity and aging of accounts receivable
- Respond to inquiries from customers, internal departments and external auditors regarding cash application and account balances
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and participate in the implementation of new procedures
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as accounting standards and regulations
Accounting Clerk Requirements:
- 1+ year of experience in an accounting related role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of healthcare industry billing and payment processes is a plus
