JOB TITLE: PRODUCTS & SERVICES MANAGER

DEPARTMENT: OPERATIONS

REPORTS TO: GENERAL MANAGER OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS

SUPERVISES: N/A

FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT

SALARY: UP TO $90k BASE PAY BASED ON EXPERIENCE PLUS ADDITIONAL INCENTIVE PAY

Position Summary:

Waterloo is going through major changes to become a sustainable and smart City. This position serves as the product and services operations and sales lead for the Waterloo Municipal Communications Utility, DBA, Waterloo Fiber, an Internet Service Provider (ISP), and reports to the General Manager of Telecommunications. The Products & Services Manager will assist in achieving Waterloo Fiber’s revenue objectives through the sales of voice, video, and data services to commercial and residential subscribers. The Products & Services Manager will communicate regularly with Waterloo Fiber’s engineering resources, leadership, and clients to close sales and implement them in a timely and accurate manner.

Within the framework of governing federal, state, and local laws and policies, the position exercises latitude and independence in the performance of assigned projects and tasks. This Products & Services Manager role is responsible for sound judgment, thoroughness, and competence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Communicate with sales resources to understand current and future client needs.

•Communicate with the various internal engineering resources to understand the current and future capabilities and capacity of the Waterloo Fiber network and support these resources in meeting the needs of Waterloo Fiber’s clients.

•Communicate with current and prospective client contacts to understand their organization’s needs and recommend Waterloo Fiber’s best products and services to meet their objectives.

•Assist in closing complex data sales with large enterprises and carrier/wholesale accounts in support of the company’s overall revenue goals.

•Act as a Business Account Manager, making sure Waterloo Fiber continues to meet the needs of individual clients.

•Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of complex data sales.

•Create rapport and trust with the IT staff within large enterprise and carrier clients.

•Coach and train staff to help them understand and communicate technical issues and network trends.

•Create rapport and trust within Waterloo Fiber’s engineering team and assist as needed to improve the overall service delivery processes and implementations.

•Responsible for achieving KPIs including but not limited to: lead flow, qualified opportunities, discounts applied/margins, and retention rate.

•Provide technical expertise and assistance to client IT staff and end users as needed.

•Represent Waterloo Fiber at community events as needed.

Education/Experience:

•High School Diploma or GED required, related Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree preferred

•At least two years of prior management experience. Previous experience at a utility preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

•Understanding of the broadband industry, product set, and value proposition of fiber-based networks.

•Self-motivated, with excellent time management, organizational skills and complex problem solving.

•Must have excellent oral, written, and proven presentation skills.

•Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

•Frequently required to sit, stand, bend at the knees and waist, and walk

•Required to use hands to type, handle objects and paperwork

•Required to use close vision and be able to focus

•Must be able to lift/carry 20 lbs. at any given time

•Must be able to travel for business purposes on an occasional basis

•Must be available to represent Waterloo Fiber at various community events
