Job description
Our law firm is seeking a Family Attorney who seeks to advance their career without the burden of running the day-to-day operations of a firm. The firm is looking for an attorney who is truly excited about practicing family law and assisting clients through their cases and an attorney who is energized by litigation. The firm would like the attorney to carry his or her own caseload and assist our clients in navigating the sensitive legal issues of family law, including child custody, child support, divorce, modifications, adoptions, etc. This is a direct-hire position with a hybrid schedule. This is a great opportunity to eventually lead the family law division of the firm.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders
- Help solve legal problems for clients by analyzing the situation, understanding their needs, and creating a strategic plan of action
- Divide marital assets, including real estate and retirement when necessary during divorce proceedings
- Communicate with paralegals and legal assistants to effectively move through the civil litigation process
- Attend court proceedings as needed to represent clients
- Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept current
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a legal background and a J.D. degree are required
- 2-5 years of experience in working with family law and excitement about practicing family law
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, especially in highly stressful and emotional situations
- Ability to carry his or her own caseload
