Job description
The Director, Communications at Footprint is a dynamic leadership role integral to shaping and executing the company's communication strategy. Based at the Arizona Home Office in Gilbert, this position reports to a Senior Leader within the company (designation to be determined). The Director will oversee strategic and tactical communication efforts related to Footprint products, customer, consumers, employee and supplier/vendor relations, investor communication, and key business initiatives within the broader sustainability business community.
Product Communication:
- Develop and execute comprehensive marketing and communication strategies and tactics across Footprint's diverse sustainable product portfolio and partnerships.
- Collaborate closely with leadership and product teams to create compelling story-telling messaging to launch new products, align with market trends and support customer ESG goals.
- Craft a media relations strategy founded in Footprint’s brand narrative.
- Effectively communicate with external stakeholders
- Identify relevant media outlets, industry/trade publications, online platforms, and social media channels.
- Build relationships with journalists and reporters to secure media coverage.
- Organizing press events and securing interviews
Customer and Vendor Communication:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with customers and vendors through effective communication channels.
- Ensure timely and relevant updates on product developments, innovations, and overall company news through email campaigns, newsletters, website, event management, CRM tool, etc.
Investor Communication:
- Craft and deliver clear, transparent communication for investors, ensuring a thorough understanding of financial performance, strategic initiatives, and industry trends.
- Collaborate with finance and leadership teams to convey the company's financial story accurately.
Business Community and Legislative Initiatives:
- Spearhead communication efforts for key business initiatives within the broader business and legislative communities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align communication strategies with overarching business objectives.
Strategic Planning:
- Provide strategic counsel to senior leadership on communication strategies and tactics.
Brand Management:
- Maintain brand identity and consistency across all communications. Ensuring the brand message, visuals and tone resonate with target audiences.
- Ensure that messaging aligns with the company's mission, vision, and values.
Crisis Communication:
- Develop and implement crisis communication plans, ensuring the company is well-prepared for potential challenges.
- Serve as a spokesperson during critical situations, maintaining transparency and trust.
Team Leadership:
- Foster a collaborative and creative work environment that encourages innovation.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven experience in strategic and tactical communications, with a focus on leadership, collaboration and integrated marketing communications.
- Comprehensive understanding of product communication, customer relations, consumer messaging, employee engagement, investor communication, and crisis management.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences (press releases, media relations, social media, executive speeches, leadership communications and website content).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using various communication tools and platforms.
- Experience in measuring and analyzing data on internal, external, and marketing campaigns, sales, web traffic, social media, etc. to determine ROI and optimize efforts.
- Ability to manage budgets for internal, external, and marketing expenses across departments and campaigns. Track costs and measure performance.
- Past experience overseeing agency creative support.
- Preferred experience in sustainability (ESG) communications and marketing
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates/incumbents must meet the minimum qualifications as detailed below.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in communications, with 4 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of successful product communication, customer engagement, and investor relations.
