JOB GOAL: Ensure that all school meals provided to students meet district, state, and federal guidelines. Ensure that all school meals are nutritious, appealing, excellent quality and served in an atmosphere that is safe, friendly, and clean
Essential and Marginal Functions ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise the daily operation of the JP McCaskey High School Campus cafeterias including: production, production records, discipline, inventory and sanitation.
- Assists in the planning, developing and monitoring of the food service operations and nutritional programs of the district, and in the absence of the Director, assumes responsibilities of the Department.
- Assist in creating menus in accordance with the nutritional and dietary guidelines set by the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs and School District Wellness Policy.
- Responsible for the daily pulling and tabulation of satellite food and supply orders.
- Supervises central kitchen operations
- Participates in interviews, personnel recommendations and resolving personnel matters in accordance with District policies.
- Comply and update Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) Policy.
- Plan in-service instruction and training programs for newly hired and staff employees.
- Attends conferences and meetings as directed.
- When possible visits site cafeterias to supervise, analyze, determine, and recommend procedures, practices, and methods of efficient and safe food preparation operations.
- Report staff absentees and obtains substitutes according to School District policy.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise the processing of bills and reports needed by the Business Office for the monthly reporting to the Department of Education and the School Board.
- Involvement in School District programs, whenever the services of the cafeteria, or staff are needed.
- Monitor and approve staff payroll.
Qualifications - A minimum of an Associate of Arts degree in hospitality management, foods and nutrition, dietetics, or business from an accredited college or university.
- Knowledgeable in the food service industry with an understanding of nutrition, sanitation, and food safety.
- Knowledge of laws associated with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Knowledge of regulations associated with the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs.
- Bilingual preferred not required.
- Must have a broad scope of knowledge in all areas of food services such as employees' supervision, quality food production, nutrition education, and training.
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be computer and technology literate.
- Three or more years experience in K-12 meal planning and preparation.
- Two or more years supervisory experience.
- Other qualifications to the above that the Board may find acceptable and appropriate
Supplemental Information REPORTS TO: Director of Food Services and Child Nutrition.
SUPERVISES: Food Service Staff with direct supervision of JP McCaskey Cafeteria Staff.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full year. Salary to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance is evaluated in accordance with the Compensation and Performance Evaluation Plan for School and District Leaders.
