Job description
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, the Specialty Pharmacy Technician will participate in the advanced preparation of hazardous/cytotoxic medications and/or be actively involved in the medication reconciliation process,
This position may involve working with hazardous drugs in a pharmacy setting,
Hazardous drugs may cause health issues such as the following: rashes, infertility, miscarriage, birth defects, and possibly cancer,
Accidental exposure to some of these drugs/agents may additionally cause irritation or damage to skin, eyes, or other exposed body parts,
The facility will follow reasonable policies and procedures in order to minimize exposure to these drugs in accordance with commonly available information and guidance from such entities as the FDA and OSHA,
The facility will also provide safety measures such as spill kits and eye wash stations to help limit my exposure to, or limit the results of, accidental exposure to such drugs,
All staff are trained on the handling of hazardous drugs during orientation and will be re-trained at least annually,
