Lexington, MA | United States

Job description

The Surveillance Systems Group () conducts research, development, and evaluation of novel surveillance systems and state of the art integrated sensing and decision support architectures to support safe and efficient air and surface transportation. We are the world expert in airborne collision avoidance systems for aircraft () and are currently leading efforts to develop sensing, vehicle to vehicle communications, and decision making under uncertainty software to support the integration of increasingly autonomous systems, such as Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) platforms, into the national airspace. We have received several R&D 100 awards, and our team is composed of world-renowned researchers in the field of Artificial Intelligence and surveillance systems. Our team is focused on advancing autonomy and decision support to enable unprecedented changes for both and air and surface transportation. To support these efforts, we apply a broad base of analysis, modeling, optimization, and machine learning expertise to develop sensing and architectures and decision support software to ensure safe and efficient operation of autonomous systems across the broader transportation domain.

Job Description

We are looking for applicants with an interest and background in algorithm development, applied engineering, prototype development and testing, and modeling and simulation to support the development and implementation of safety critical systems that will enable the integration of increasingly autonomous systems into the transportation system. The candidate will develop and integrate machine learning algorithms to aid human operators in decision making or to fully automate safety critical systems in the transportation system. The candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary hardware, software, and analysis team under the mentorship of a senior technical lead. Example problem areas include algorithm development and analysis for surveillance, tracking, and collision avoidance, and novel comprehensive system performance evaluation for vehicle separation and collision avoidance applications. Additionally, we are looking for applicants to develop new advanced decision support systems across the transportation domain. Activities will include algorithm development and assessment, modeling simulation, and data analysis. Successful candidates will develop the skills to analyze the operational problems in detail and to develop deployable solutions. Additional responsibilities may include participation in test planning and flight test operations, as well as analysis and presentation of data collected during field tests. The Surveillance Systems Group supports a hybrid work environment .
