Job description
As our Tax Analyst II, your work may seem like just crunching numbers and filling out forms, but what if we told you that your role can be part of a larger mission? You are no stranger to Federal, State, and Local tax laws, so filing and organizing EMF’s taxes is a walk in the park for you- working on tax projects such as real estate and personal property tax filings, sales tax, Form 990 planning, and overall process improvements.
Here's some qualifications we are seeking:
- Tax analysis and reporting, ideally in a multi-state environment.
- Knowledge and proficiency with Federal, State, and Local tax laws and regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop sincere business/ministry relationships.
- Experiences in the preparation and timely filing of sales and/or personal and real property tax returns.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Track record of meeting deadlines in a efficient and effective manner.
- Strong computer skills; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and other analytic tools. Knowledge of MapInfo, Google Earth Pro, and/or RadioSoft are a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and establish and meet performance/ministry goals.
- Exhibits versatility and flexibility. Regularly adapts to change while maintaining a positive attitude and high productivity.
- Demonstrated ability to represent ministry and executive staff in a professional manner and maintain confidentiality.
Here's some of what you will be doing:
- Provide or assist with timely and accurate sales and personal property tax filings for states assigned and maintain a tax file for each site/state as needed.
- Maintain an active relationship with key members of the Finance and Engineering Departments to obtain data needed for filings.
- Ensure timely and accurate fixed asset information necessary for property tax reporting.
- Resolve any discrepancies between asset listings and the standard asset schedule for a station or translator by requesting site inventories and explanations from the Engineering Department.
- Maintain knowledge of each site through the review of lease and acquisition documents.
- Determine accurate reporting jurisdictions by tying down the exact location for each site. Specifically, verify site locations in Accounting and Property Tax Management Systems with leasing databases, assuring the sites listed are correctly, reported in the appropriate tax jurisdiction and that we have captured and reported on all appropriate locations.
- Research and resolve tax issues that arise. Pro-actively communicate issues with senior tax team members.
