Job description
Looking for a full-time rabbi starting July 1, 2024. The rabbi, along with the cantor, will be leading shabbat and holiday services. They will be attending daily minyan, visiting the sick, officiating life cycle events, working with our education director in reviewing the school curriculum, working with the cantor on preparing the B’nai Mitzvah students, and teaching Jewish customs at the Federation sponsored preschool that rents space in our building.
Type of service are you envisioning: We use Lev Shalem for Shabbat and Sim Shalom for weekday minyans
How do you do Jewish : Blend traditions of the Conservative movement with Reconstructionist teachings. We foster a welcoming, vibrant, progressive and inclusive Jewish community.
Why you need a rabbi: Our present Rabbi has decided to leave for personal reasons
Community Description:
Founded in 1956, a few congregants from Beth El in West Philadelphia moved to Broomall, whose Jewish population was insignificant at the time. They resolved to provide congregational services in the suburbs. Two additional mergers, in 1992 with Ner Tamid, and in 2000 with Temple Israel of Upper Darby, have diversified our community. Today, Beth El-Ner Tamid is a vibrant and active community, with a range of programs and activities for all ages. We are committed to Jewish values, while embracing modern approaches to worship and community engagement. We have a strong focus on experiential education, offering a variety of programs for both children and adults. We are focused on diversity and inclusivity. We are looking to grow our younger families and their involvement.

Qualifications:
Ordained Rabbi; Doesn't need to be affiliated with a specific Jewish Movement; Able to work with younger interfaith families; Comfortable with LGBTQ+ community; Able to read Torah as a backup to the Cantor; Familiar with implementing laws of Kashrut.
Position Start Date: July 1, 2024
Benefits:
An additional $12,000 to be spent as candidate desires for medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, as well as, toward retirement.
Salary Range: $90,000
