Job description
TITLE: Lab Manager
Duties: Perform air, water, structural, and acoustical lab testing on building materials. Supervise personnel and projects within assigned location/department, including assigning staff to new jobs and scheduling. Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with all applicable parameters. Oversee calibration, maintenance, service, and occasional modifications of all test equipment. Mentor and train staff to broaden their scope of capabilities. Performance evaluations of subordinates. Maintain a safe and organized laboratory. Structural laboratory accreditation and quality assurance. Communicate technical information to technicians. Responsible for Proposal preparation and testing, as assigned. Assist in preparation of forecasts and sales reports. Prepare working drawings for curtain wall mock-ups. Review of data sheets and reports from technicians and thoroughly understand contract requirements and document any deviations. Provide data interpretation to clients. Perform other work as assigned. This position requires 10% domestic travel.
SALARY: $118,435 - $125,000 per year

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field of study and two (2) years’ experience as a Project Manager, Lab Director, Line Manager or a related role where required experience gained.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Also requires experience in the following:
Consulting or negotiating with clients to prepare engineering project specifications;
Applying engineering knowledge to properly survey reports, maps, drawings, and blueprints;
Developing and implementing engineering policies, standards, and procedures for engineering and technical work; and
Analyzing processes to identify engineering problems and assess potential engineering project impact.
