Job description
Type: 12+ month full-time, contract opportunity - likely to extend through 18 months.

Overview : The Training Specialist will effectively deliver and facilitate both classroom and on-hands training in support of the company’s training programs for the manufacturing and production equipment to ensure superior workforce preparation. This individual will also provide both mentoring and skill evaluation to certify machine operators on safe operating standards – with a focus on people, food, and machine safety. This individual will collaborate with Research & Development, Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, and Operations as needed to aid in, and support product and process launches to meet business objectives. The Training Specialist will be responsible for updating existing materials and working with the Technical Writer to develop new content to ensure that equipment operators are trained, knowledgeable, and having access to all resources, while providing a safe and professional environment for growth as innovation progresses.
Job Duties : - Maintain current knowledge, while engaging new product knowledge and job-related skills and/or equipment certifications by attending manufacturer-led training, as well as side-by-side observations and direct operation of the equipment.
- Must maintain expert ability to perform the tasks and duties required of the related roles at the most senior level to effectively mentor, train, and certify equipment operators.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with the Research & Development, Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, and Operations groups to provide support as needed with projects.
- Provide technical expertise to support the Innovation and Productive initiatives.
- Maintain a high-level of professionalism inside and outside of the classroom and production areas, strictly adhering to The Hershey Company’s Code of Ethics, policies, and procedures.
- Create training course materials; including documenting process procedures, manuals, guides, and other written documentation considered beneficial for continued operational success.
- Capture video and photographic documentation for the creation of a comprehensive learning program which will be on the LMS Learning Platform.
- Assist with the creation of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) documentation, as warranted.
- Perform needs-based analysis and review of the current equipment training programs throughout the facility to align all training to a unified format.
- Provide periodic follow-up evaluation of machine operators to ensure skills retention as well as a refresher training program for higher complexity equipment.
- Must be willing to undertake special tasks as directed.
Required Qualifications : - Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent knowledge and experience in a manufacturing industry.
- Minimum of two years current experience in training and/or mentoring employees on technical subject matter.
- Train-the-trainer certification from an industry recognized organization; or could obtain in the first year of employment.
- Must work well under pressure and work flexible hours, as warranted.
- Must be willing and able to travel both domestically and internationally to support business needs.
- Must be able to travel up to 35% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications : - Knowledge of OSHA Machine Safety Programs: Control of Hazardous Energy, Machine Guarding, and Electrical Safety.
- Must have at least an advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Power Point and Excel.
- Must have a demonstrated ability to efficiently manage time and multiple simultaneous projects to meet the operational needs of the organization, as well as meeting deadlines to ensure timely deliverables of goods.
- Must have a demonstrated ability to interact professionally and confidently with management, as well as both permanent and contingent line workers.
- Must have the demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and written to a diverse group of individuals.
- Must have the demonstrated ability to problem solve and troubleshoot technical issues.
