Job description
We're seeking an experienced leader as our Communications Team Leader within the Outreach Team. You'll be instrumental in amplifying the Gospel message and our church's vision through effective communication practices. Responsibilities include developing clear and captivating communication across all channels, crafting comprehensive strategies to engage our parish and the broader community. This role demands creativity, planning, and project management skills to ensure timely completion of tasks. You'll oversee a team consisting of a Coordinator and volunteers, with support from the Director of Mission.
Responsibilities:
- Further develop comprehensive communication strategy: Align communication efforts with the church's vision, mission, and core values, identify target audiences, and establish clear communication goals.
- Support & Empower: Recruit, train, and motivate a team of volunteers to assist with various communication tasks, including videography, website management, social media, graphic design, writing, interactive environments and media relations. This includes developing a story ministry to help capture testimonies.
- Collaborate effectively: Partner with pastor, parish leadership team, ministry leaders, and other staff to ensure clear and consistent communication across all areas of the church.
- Oversee all communication channels: Manage the church's website, social media platforms, email newsletter, printed materials, and other communication channels, ensuring consistency, brand alignment, and effective messaging that reflects our vision and mission.
- Direct or create compelling content: Develop and write engaging content for various audiences, including website copy, social media posts, email newsletters, press releases, videos, testimonies, audio, and other materials, all aligned with the vision and mission.
- Local Community Outreach: Build relationships with local media outlets and develop strategies to promote church events, activities, and initiatives that embody our mission and vision.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends: Research and implement new communication technologies and best practices to keep the church's communication efforts effective, relevant, and engaging.
Qualifications:
•Active Catholic in full communion with the Roman Catholic Church.
Equally passionate about communication, media and the Catholic Church.
- Skilled in tailoring communication for both the faithful and the unchurched.
- Deep understanding/knowledge and appreciation of Catholic faith teaching and values and the ability to communicate the faith effectively.
3-5 years of MarComm, advertising, PR, promotions, or graphic/digital arts experience.
- Proven ability to empower teams (volunteers or staff) for success.
- Excellent oral and written communication, with strong copywriting skills.
- Proficient in Apple products, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, website design, social media management, email systems, segmented/target marketing, microsoft .
- Capable of producing, directing, and editing content
videography, photography, audio and graphic design
- Adaptable, eager to learn, willing to serve
- Flexible scheduling, at times including weekends and evenings as needed.
