Position Summary:

Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Program Coordinator I. Reporting to the Assistant Director of TRIO Programs & PreCollege Initiatives ( TRIO Director) within the office of the Center for PreCollege Programs. The position is responsible for planning, developing, and executing precollege educational support programs, activities, and services throughout the academic year and during the summer institute to ensure program compliance, including program delivery for Saturday Academies, school visits, college tours, trips, and program admissions, and recruitment sessions at target high schools.

This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:

• They will coordinate the implementation of rigorous curricular activities, including but not limited to tutoring and managing participants' academic progress, ensuring programming and integrative student projects focus on high-school retention, graduation, college admissions, and college completion.
• Assist in coordinating supplemental instruction, student academic scheduling, and collection of student report cards and transcripts from school district partners.
• Responsibilities include planning trips, cultural activities, and events during the academic year and summer institute for participants and families with internal and external partners.
• The position will supervise and coordinate the schedules of work-study and part-time student staff.
• Maintains and updates student databases, evaluations, shared and encrypted drives, and prepares report data.
• Responsible for tracking expenses based on program budgets and submitting reports as required for internal audit, operations, and compliance.
• The position works closely with TRIO and other programs in the Center for PreCollege Programs, university offices, and other external stakeholders.
• The position requires high accountability and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, including special projects and additional duties as assigned.
• Duties require scheduled weekends, some evenings, and mandatory summer responsibilities. Must have a valid driving license and access to a vehicle.

The Center for PreCollege Programs ( CPP ) administers precollege and pipeline programs designed to educate, inspire, and prepare students to be successful in secondary and post-secondary education while promoting a college-going culture. The commitment is to support students by providing opportunities to achieve and grow. CPP includes federal TRIO programs; Talent Search and Upward Bound, Dual Enrollment, University-Assisted Partnerships with local high schools, and the Newark Rutgers Future Scholars Program. The Center for PreCollege Programs facilitates strategic relationships with school districts, community partners, and government stakeholders, as well as collaborative partnerships.

This position is contingent on the continuation of external funding.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• At least two years experience in an academic setting working with students in special populations.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The Program Coordinator will be responsible for lifting and transportation of educational equipment and supplies across campus. Must work weekends as schedule requires.
