Job description

Position Summary:

Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Program Coordinator I. Reporting to the Assistant Director of TRIO Programs & PreCollege Initiatives ( TRIO Director) within the office of the Center for PreCollege Programs. The position is responsible for planning, developing, and executing precollege educational support programs, activities, and services throughout the academic year and during the summer institute to ensure program compliance, including program delivery for Saturday Academies, school visits, college tours, trips, and program admissions, and recruitment sessions at target high schools.

This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:


The Center for PreCollege Programs ( CPP ) administers precollege and pipeline programs designed to educate, inspire, and prepare students to be successful in secondary and post-secondary education while promoting a college-going culture. The commitment is to support students by providing opportunities to achieve and grow. CPP includes federal TRIO programs; Talent Search and Upward Bound, Dual Enrollment, University-Assisted Partnerships with local high schools, and the Newark Rutgers Future Scholars Program. The Center for PreCollege Programs facilitates strategic relationships with school districts, community partners, and government stakeholders, as well as collaborative partnerships.


This position is contingent on the continuation of external funding.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The Program Coordinator will be responsible for lifting and transportation of educational equipment and supplies across campus. Must work weekends as schedule requires.
