Veterinary Nurse-Diagnostic Imaging
The successful candidate will work efficiently alongside sonographers and LVT’s to facilitate a variety of imaging exams by drawing up medications prescribed by a veterinarian, administering those medications, monitoring the patient(s) during imaging, and ensuring proper reversal/recovery. The position entails performing ultrasound-guided fine needle aspirates, slide preparation for sample analysis, and other ultrasound-guided procedures. This position may also involve completing basic thorax and abdomen radiographic positioning.
Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical or vocational school in Veterinary Technology; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in extensive patient care, surgery, anesthesia, drug-dosing, and sterilization; experience in the use of spreadsheet and word processing software, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; licensed as a Veterinary Technician with the State of Michigan or attainment of such certification within one year from date of employment.
Experience with veterinary anesthesia; experience working with students in a teaching environment; Ultrasound experience; Michigan state licensure within the first 6-12 months of hire

STANDARD 8-5
The veterinary nurse will be lifting animal patients onto cages and medical equipment; carrying animals between cages and exam tables and gurneys; pushing carts containing animals and equipment to other units; climbing stairs carrying lab samples; restraining animals; preparing for medical procedures and treatments. Lift animals up to 50lbs individually and up to 150lbs as a team.
Potential exposure to animals or specimens with Mycobacterium
Work with animals or unfixed tissue
Wear a respirator (does not include paper dust mask worn for comfort)
