Position Summary

Provides leadership and directs the operations of CNM's Accessibility Services Department. Provides leadership for accessibility initiatives across the College and supports enrollment, retention, and graduation efforts for students with disabilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Leads staff within CNM’s core values, vision, and mission statement.

• Supervises staff, which includes prioritizing and assigning work; ensuring staff is trained and follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.

• Directs the activities of the department including, planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating programs, projects, processes, procedures, systems, standards, and/or service offerings; supports institutional compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards.

• Oversees the timely provision of reasonable accommodations for qualified students with disabilities.

• Track and report on departmental performance, service level agreements, and key performance indicators for students with disabilities.

• Oversees the department annual budget; monitors and approves expenditures; and implements adjustments, as needed.

• Participates in divisional and institutional committees and initiatives representing the college’s commitment to accessibility and inclusion.

• Works in partnership with the ADA Coordinator and other divisions of the college to ensure compliance with state and federal disability rights laws.

• Develops and coordinates training for faculty and staff regarding disability access and inclusion, accommodation strategies, various departmental processes and software, and other issues relating to students with disabilities.

• Responsible administrating accommodation workflow software and related integrations with Student Information System, Customer Relationship Manager, and other institutional technologies

• Engages with community partners and organizations

• Stays abreast of emerging adaptive technologies, trends in higher education disability services, disability rights legislation and legal precedent, and educational strategies for diversity, equity, and inclusion.

• Employees are required to comply with safety regulations, procedures, protocols, OSHA standards, and public health requirements.

• Performs other related duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

(Individuals must clearly meet all minimum requirements in the resume to be considered for an interview):

• Bachelor's and 5 years of related experience working with adults with disabilities or ADA framework (with at least 3 years of supervisory experience),

OR

• Master's and 3 years of related experience working with adults with disabilities or ADA framework (with at least 3 years of supervisory experience).

Preferences (Preferences are used to further differentiate between applicants' eligibility for interview/hiring):

• Professional experience in higher education, community college setting,

• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups across varied settings,

• Ability to evaluate ASL Interpreters,

• Demonstrated leadership experience related to accommodation determination, accessibility compliance, or disability rights.

This position currently requires on-campus presence at least 80% of the time.
