Sanding Operator

Shift: 2nd

Pay: $18.76

SUMMARY : The sanding operator shall examine poles for excessive bushing marks, deep gouges or excessive wheel rings, review all drawings that pertain to sanding. Utilize proper gauges, bushings, sanding belts, drawings and processes. Ensure that all specifications are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

All poles shall be inspected for scratches/dents. If poles are scratched and/or have large dents the supervisor shall be contacted. With supervisor’s approval the prescribed settings may be changed for severely dented or scratched poles.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; and a combination of high school and/or technical/trade school or combination of education and experience in the field.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Basic mathematic skills.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Must be able to work in a team environment and participate, contribute and support all team activities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for the entire shift. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Lifting which exceeds 50 pounds may be with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. Proper lifting techniques required.
